How difficult is the Queensland Academies Test?

The Queensland Academies entrance exam is conducted by EduTest and measures students' ability and achievement through a series of five individual tests.

Achievement tests (reading comprehension, mathematics and writing) measure actual achievement or performance in some key academic areas. Achievement scores are influenced by a child's ability, as well as the application and practise of knowledge that has been learned.

Ability tests (verbal reasoning and numerical reasoning) are designed to measure a child's ability to think, reason and solve problems without necessarily relying on prior knowledge. Ability generally predicts how quickly a child will be able to learn and the level of complexity they can comfortably deal with

Will NotesEdu practice tests improve my child's test scores?

Besides talent, the intense practise for an extended period makes a person an expert in their field. The differences in performance between top students and average marks is due to a notion known as "deliberate practice".

A student needs to be motivated to improve their performance and continuously put an effort to become better. Use your pre-existing knowledge and review your performance to know what went wrong and what needs improvement.

There are three reliable ways to improve your child's test scores:
1. Genuine improvements in the subject knowledge to improve your abilities.

2. Decrease anxiety, increased familiarity with format, and time management.

3. Practice tests that increase familiar with what to expect in the tests, for example, questions types, and test format. Taking practice tests under time constraints similar to the live testing situation will best prepare the student for test-taking conditions and hence lower stress on exam-day.

The practice may not make you perfect, but it will certainly improve your abilities.

How does NotesEdu support students to make them exam ready?

The Queensland Academies ability tests are not like school-based assessments or NAPLAN, but it identifies students learning abilities suited to the program. To get familiarised with the Queensland Academies test format and types of questions, please subscribe to FREE NotesEdu's Trial test. If a child knows what is expected in the Queensland Academies exam and practice the time-bound tests, it will help reduce anxiety and build confidence in their abilities and increase the test score.  NotesEdu's Queensland Academies premium and platinum test series follow the same format and sub-test categories as the Queensland Academies test.

Note:
NotesEdu Queensland Academies Test series is not officially endorsed by the Queensland Academies program and is crafted by NotesEdu Test Experts independently of EduTest.

I am disappointed with my score. What should I do?

If you are disappointed with your score, please do not give up or get sad about it.

It is usual for a score to fluctuate and differ between tests. Various factors may impact your performance, for example, your knowledge about the concept, concentration level, review of answers or even luck with guessing.

Take the low score as an opportunity to improve further. Focus on what you can do about it. After finishing NotesEdu's practice tests, review all questions to check what went wrong and how can you improve next time.

Remember: Hard work beats talent, when talent fails to work hard.
