Selective Schools offer an extra challenge for academically gifted children. Students are enrolled in Selective Schools through highly competitive exams in English, Writing, Maths and General Ability. Students are academically tested in English Reading (45 questions in 40 minutes), Writing (one question in 20 minutes), Maths (40 questions in 40 minutes) and General Ability (60 questions in 40 minutes). Each year, a combined Selective Schools entrance exam is conducted in March for Students in Year 6. A large number of students start preparing for Selective School exams when they are in Year 5. Every year, the cut off marks for entering a Selective School varies due to stiff competition and available places in Year 7. Students are highly recommended to achieve a target score of eighty percent marks for ensuring a place in fully Selective School.
